Even though Scoil Croí Íosa is located in the heart of the city of Galway, nevertheless it has successfully managed to introduce Nature into all aspects of its primary school curriculum, from art to maths to science.

With a canal populated with birds, fishes and insects forming its boundary on one side, having on site the largest organic school garden in the city, providing in-house cooking and baking sessions to its pupils, able to regularly call on environmental science mentoring from its friendly university neighbour (as well as from GMIT), and creating a unique, inspiring and beautifully forest-themed library, Scoil Croí Íosa is an urban learning treasure that Galway city  should be proud of.

Check out this video from teacher Jason Byrne to get a flavour of the holistic environmental education that Scoil Chroí Íosa offers its pupils.
