Kay Synott, The Living Gardens Advocate
With over 16 years of experience, Kay Synott has been an enthusiastic advocate of using gardens as places of learning for schools, residential neighbourhoods and communities. A qualified horticulturalist and educator, she is currently working in the area of further education and training for the Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board as well as for the ‘Heritage in Schools’ scheme providing school garden and environmental education workshops for primary schools. Kay enjoys working with both adults and children in various community settings and is passionate about sustainability, biodiversity and organic gardening.
Owner of ‘Living Gardens’ she designs public and private gardens as well as design, set up and help maintain school and community gardens in Galway county and city.
Kay has in the past worked as an environmental education guide in Brigit’s Garden, a teacher’s summer course facilitator for the Galway Education Centre and has been involved in the Medtronic Healthy Living Programme.
