Energy Society, NUI Galway
The Energy Society of NUI Galway is a consortium of university students passionate about renewable energy solutions who are taking an active role in tackling climate change and to protect our environment. Its mission is to create programs and projects on campus and in
the Galway city community that address the energy crisis, raise awareness about the issues as well as solutions, and inform students on what is being done and how they can get involved. The society had planned a major outdoor festival highlighting Galway and Ireland’s groups doing something to fight climate change, called the Green Energy Festival that has been postponed due to COVID-19. The members also take a more active role in wider community initiatives such as campaigning for more (electric) buses, bike lanes, e-bike legislation, and construction for a green future.
