Castlegar National School

Castlegar National School, established in 1940, is a friendly progressive school with excellent facilities for the holistic education of all children. We aim to give children the best possible start in life by providing a warm, safe, nurturing environment for all children. We place a strong emphasis on learning about the natural world and weave elements of this throughout the school curriculum. Our school were the National Primary SEAI One Good Idea Champions in 2018. We have been involved in numerous Heritage in Schools projects based around local green and blue spaces. We have developed our own Outdoor Classroom designed specifically for Aistear and creative play-based learning outdoors. We believe that the achievement of the National Park City Galway would be fantastic for our school to further emphasise the benefits that learning through the natural lens could have for our whole school community.
