Aine Hurley

Mental Health Ireland advocate

Aine works as a Development Officer in Galway for Mental Health Ireland. Her role is to support communities in the coordination of positive mental health and wellbeing activities. With Mental Health Ireland she works in partnership with statutory and voluntary organisations to develop mental health promotion initiatives locally while also delivering awareness raising initiatives, targeted education and training on a variety of mental health issues.

Aine previously worked as a primary school teacher and has vast experience of how the outdoor classroom can provide wonderful opportunities to children and show them a simpler world, removed from technology. She has a master’s degree in Health Promotion from NUI Galway and has a keen interest in the benefits of nature to enhance or restore health. Physical, mental and spiritual health are all enriched when we engage with nature. It is essential for us to make sure this happens.
